Herb Greenhouses

We plant chives, parsley, cilantro, and basil in peat pods. The plastic clamshell container helps keep the seeds warm until they grow tall enough to transplant into a pot or garden.  A fun spring activity!

In class, you will plant your seeds in your greenhouse.

Water your plants each day. After 5 weeks, if it is above 50 degrees at night, you can put your little plants into a pot and move them outside.

You can put all four herb plants in one pot or each plant can go into its own pot.

We use potting soil to fill the clay pot.

If you use one big pot, give each plant enough space to grow.

Add water. Not too much, just enough to get the soil moist.

Find a sunny or partially sunny spot outside.
If it gets cold at night, we can bring in the pot and put it out again during the day.
In a few weeks, we will have tasty basil, chives, parsley, and cilantro plants big enough to harvest a little each day.
