A robin gathered nesting materials from my yard. |

My favorite book about nests is Birds, Nests and Eggs by Mel Boring. The book describes and shows through simple illustrations what each bird's nest and eggs look like and some helpful advice. One thing I learned is that robins use mud in their nest-building and you can help by leaving a pan of wet mud out for them.

Bird of the Northwoods by David Grack is more like a workbook/coloring book about the birds in Minnesota. The exact colors are listed for each bird so when you are finished coloring the picture, you know exactly what each bird looks like. There is a space on each page to record when and where you saw each bird. If you like to find birds near your home in MN, you will want this book!
